Cartwright Mountain Vista Loop

Summerland

Cartwright Mountain is a yarnball of trails, and if you're looking for the best views on the entire network, this is the loop you want to do. While you won't be starting at the main trailhead, you'll cover all the best panoramic shots of the mountain. The only way to do this loop is to take our GPS log with you, as there are literally over 70 km of trails that interconnect.

The majority of the elevation gain will be in the first two kilometers as you ascend along the ridge-line as "Hairway to Steven" (yes, dyslexia intended). Dipping back into a valley, take a gorgeous single track route to one of the highest points on the mountain where someone has erected a gorgeous pine picnic table, and view to match. Descend much more gradually as you head south east back to one of the numerous trail inlets.

Portions of the trail allow off-roading while others are technically on private property, but still open to hikers and cyclists only.

Special thanks to Jasmine Brown for joining me on the journey to trail log the majority of this network.

GPS Notes
We have often color-coded our GPX tracks. While it is not always the case, we have tried to use the following convention on our newer maps:

Green/Blue: human-verified by our volunteers.
Purple: overgrown trail, bushwhack, or on private property.
Red: default color or not reality-checked
Yellow: Road
Other Colors: May have been satellite traced or imported from third party sources.

While we strongly believe our GPS are accurate, please be aware that no logging system is perfect and to be aware of potential errors. Use at your own risk.
