Smith Creek: Summit Loop
Central Okanagan / West Kelowna
23 min driving from Downtown Kelowna
Smith Creek is a winding series of mountain bike trails that double as beautiful wandering walk through the forest way. All trails eventually lead up and then down back again to the road. Do not expect a gorgeous view at the top of this hike, as you will be nestled into the forest for almost the entire duration. Regardless, it is a great way to escape the hot summer sun that plagues many of the other hiking destinations around town. The trail is primarily enjoyable for mountain bikers, not hikers.
While the number of forks in the trails can be disconcerting, it is relatively easy to find your way up and down the mountain. The Trail Network GPS file for this trail includes a variety of alternative trail routes traced using Google Earth.
For the best experience, park, and go left into the forest on the southwest side of the dirt road, and follow it until it crosses the road again and begins ascending up the mountain after an immediate right-hand fork. Keep following the trail markers that say "Up"
