Okanagan's Easiest Hikes

Spark your spring fitness routine by hiking in the Okanagan! With trails ranging from stroller-friendly jaunts to extreme multi-day adventures, the rewarding vista of the Okanagan Valley is available to all. If you are just warming up for the season, check out some of these amazing easier hikes to begin the adventure:

Bear Creek (Difficulty: 3/10)
When talking to locals, virtually everyone has heard of Knox Mountain and Bear Creek. At this time of year, the waterfall at Bear Creek is bursting through the canyon. It provides a phenomenal photo-taking opportunity. During the summer, pop over for a swim off-trail! Hoofing it, plan for 40 minutes round trip, or 60 minutes for a more relaxed stroll.

Kalamoir Park (Difficulty: 3/10)
Teetering on the backyard edges of many wineries, this looped trail offers continual panoramas reaching across the lake to Okanagan Mountain Park and Lower Mission. Currently, the park is only mildly affected by the high water levels in the lake, and is still fully accessible. Plan for an hour to an hour and a half.

Paul's Tomb on Knox Mountain (Difficulty: 2/10)
This easy to follow trail begins at Crown Lookout on Knox Mountain and will take the average hiker about one hour round-trip, excluding break time at the beach at the end. Total distance is 4.8 km round-trip and the trail is wide and so well graded that it is easily done with a baby stroller in tow.

Kettle Valley Railway Trestles (Difficulty: 1/10)
The snow line has finally receded and the KVR Trestles are ready for action! While our section of the track reaches from Kelowna all the way to Penticton, the most scenic walk along the stroller-friendly route (Myra to Ruth Stn) is 11 km each way. This section includes the most number of trestles and signage. Bicycle rentals are often available at the Myra Station entrance, and will provide a 1.5 - 2 hour trek. Walking, prepare for an much longer leisurely stroll of upwards of 4-5 hours.

For hikers with a stroller in tow, Paul's Tomb and the KVR trestles are the best options for something a big more rugged. For even shorter, and easier, stroller-friendly trails check out the pathways at Brandts Creek Linear Trail, Hidden Lake Parkway, Dilworth Mountain Park, and Shannon Lake.
