Gallagher's Canyon: Tree of Wisdom

Gallagher's Canyon: Tree of Wisdom Trail (in a network also known as Jean Road Trails or FOSS Linear Trail System) is a custom-route of easy, interconnected trails nestled just northeast of Myra Bellevue Park, along the ridge of KLO Creek Park in Kelowna, BC. These trails are perfect for hikers of all skill levels and are also frequented by cyclists.

To begin your adventure, park at the end of Jean Road. The area boasts a "rat's nest" of trails that are very walkable for most people, providing various options for exploration. To follow our exact route, take our GPS, as the trails are only marked with usage, not signage. It is easy to get turned around. As you meander through the trails, keep an eye out for the picturesque painted turtle pond in the north-west corner of the area.

Continue your hike, descending gently until you reach a stunning view of KLO Creek Canyon on an giant outcropping. Here, you'll find the iconic Tree of Wisdom, a dead gnarly pine tree that stands as a testament to the everlasting growth and rebirth of nature. Adjacent to the Tree of Wisdom, make sure to capture a fun photo with the unique goblin-faced tree, complete with a long tongue and two horn-like branches jetting out from its head in a V formation.

Please note that dogs are allowed on the trails, but they must be kept on-leash at all times. As you explore the southern end of the trail network, be mindful that you may come across private property belonging to Myra Canyon Adventure Park.

In addition to the trailhead at Jean Road, other trailheads can be found along June Springs Road, at the end of Field Road, and within the private Gallagher's Canyon community. With so many trails to choose from, Gallagher's Canyon: Tree of Wisdom Trail offers a unique and customizable hiking experience for all to enjoy.
